How to Pump More Breast Milk

The breast milk is the best gift you can give your little one. It has all that they need for the first half year. It is also good to continue nursing after this.More often than no though, you might be willing to give your child the healthiest start to life while your body may be having other ideas. Many women find that they cannot produce enough milk for their lovely kids. Not to worry though, in this lens I will share with you a number of ways that you can take the bull by it's horns and control how much milk you produce.

Use an Electric pump

Electric pumps have strong suctions that can be adjusted to one's liking and comfort. This ensure a that you get all the milk out and as you will find out below, this increases production. They also massage the nipples and the stimulation is sure to get the letdown hormones raging.

Eat the Right Food

It takes food to make milk. If a mother fails to eat enough, the baby will suffer. The first thing you need to know is that you should never diet or starve yourself while nursing. You might be uncomfortable in your new body and you might be desperate to shed a few pounds, but that is no excuse. Breastfeeding will make you expel 500 calories a day and if you combine that with a few exercises here and there, you should be just fine. You don't have to eat a lot of food at a go. Just eat five or more small meals a day. This will keep your energy up and help you produce more milk. Snack on fruits between meals. They contain lots of water and roughage. Raw vegetables will also make you stay full for longer and help with the digestion. Celery sticks and carrots are great and full of anti-oxidants. Remember that whatever you eat, your baby eats too.It is also very important to stay hydrated. This is because milk is a liquid and thus takes liquids to make it. Drink lots of water.

Empty Your Breasts More Often

Engorgement is no fun. It may lead to blocked ducts and in some cases infections. Let's not even mention how painful it is to carry heavy painful breasts around. But these are not the only reasons why you should empty you breasts as often as you can manage. Empty boobs increase the production of milk. This is because our minds are highly sophisticated. They are programmed to read signals and tell the body to adjust accordingly. When your breasts are empty, the brain can tell that your baby needs more milk. This sets in motion a series of reactions whose end result is increased milk supply. To be able to pump more milk therefore, breastfeed your many as much as possible. Ensure that the breasts remain empty and that will lead to more milk production.I love breastfeeding so much and this has helped me have enough milk for my little girl.

The Right Mind-set

When I started pumping at work, it was all too weird and new for me. I just could not relax and my body failed me more times than I could count. I then read somewhere that I needed to carry something that reminded me of my baby and put me in the mood. I recorded her cooing on my phone, stored a picture of her on my phone and put her little t-shirt in my bag. They really helped. Looking at the tiny little outfit made me miss her so much, and her photo and images almost made me cry. This connected me to her and the milk just flowed as fast and easy as it did when nursing her.Breastfeeding is all in the mind. Exploiting this fact can go a long way.
